Sam and Pat are a married couple. The book describes Sam as a "fat man" and his wife Pat as a "good cook." Pat is a lunch lady who serves "icky" fishsticks to the children at school. Sam loses his job because he stays out late and oversleeps. I'm not sure tha|About the Author|Jo Anne Hartel got a Master's Degree in Teaching ESOL from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, VT. She taught ESOL, Reading and Writing to adults at the Community Learning Center in Cambridge, MA since 1976.
