The story is interesting and the notes are very helpful for understanding various grammar uses. Each chapter (36 in total) are fairly short so even if your level isn't that high you won't get too frustrated making progress in reading this

This is a beginning Spanish reader at the time offered for 2nd semester college and 2nd year high school classes. It is an interesting mystery story, embodying many of the idioms of highest frequency and basic vocabulary. The setting is Peru. The reader travels around the country visiting various locations by airplane with interesting stops to visit local countryside. Then by train to Cuzco, ancient capital of the inca Empire and then on foot to the lofty Peruvian Andes....
